Lack of gas in Europe brings fire to Chinese LNG ships, orders are scheduled to 2026

A Russian-Ukrainian conflict is not only a partial military action, but also directly affects the global economy. The first to bear the brunt is the reduction in the supply of Russian natural gas, which Europe has long relied on. This is of course the choice of Europe to sanction Russia itself. However, the days without natural gas are also very sad. Europe has encountered a serious energy crisis. In addition, the explosion of the Beixi No. 1 gas pipeline some time ago made it even more dumbfounded.

With Russian natural gas, Europe naturally needs to import natural gas from other natural gas producing areas, but for a long time, the natural gas pipelines mainly leading to Europe are basically related to Russia. How can natural gas be imported from places such as the Persian Gulf in the Middle East without pipelines? The answer is to use ships like oil, and the ships used are LNG ships, the full name of which is liquefied natural gas ships.

There are only a handful of countries in the world that can build LNG ships. Except for the United States, Japan and South Korea, there are a few countries in Europe. Since the shipbuilding industry shifted to Japan and South Korea in the 1990s, high-tech like LNG ships Large tonnage ships are mainly built by Japan and South Korea, but in addition to this, there is a rising star in China.

Europe has to import natural gas from countries other than Russia due to lack of gas, but due to the lack of transportation pipelines, it can only be transported by LNG ships. Originally, 86% of the world’s natural gas was transported through pipelines, and only 14% of the world’s natural gas was transported by LNG ships. Now Europe does not import natural gas from Russia’s pipelines, which suddenly increases the demand for LNG ships.
