Ningbo Zhoushan Port has made significant progress in building a world-class strong port. According to Ningbo Port and Navigation Management Center, 14 unit projects of the second phase of Zhongzhai Ore Terminal Project have passed the handover and acceptance, marking the overall completion of Zhongzhai Ore Terminal, the largest bulk cargo terminal in Ningbo, and announcing the full completion of the hundred million ton iron ore bulk cargo berth group in Ningbo Port.
The Zhongzhai Ore Terminal Phase II Project, with a total investment of 1.51 billion yuan, is located in the Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port. There are now one 300000 ton unloading berth, one 50000 ton loading berth and one 35000 ton loading berth. There are two storage yards, with a designed annual throughput of 20 million tons and a designed annual throughput of 29.11 million tons.
It is understood that Zhongzhai Ore Terminal is the largest bulk cargo terminal in Ningbo since the 13th Five Year Plan and one of the rare ore terminals in the whole Yangtze River Delta offshore large ore terminals with sea rail intermodal transport conditions.
The data shows that in 2021, the iron ore throughput of Ningbo Port of Ningbo Zhoushan Port will be about 96 million tons. After the completion of Zhongzhai Ore Terminal, it will further improve the utilization efficiency of the deep water shoreline of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, greatly improve the ability of Ningbo Port to pick up and unload large offshore iron ore ships, enhance the transit capacity and efficiency of bulk commodities such as iron ore in Ningbo Port, effectively improve the picking up and unloading capacity of large offshore iron ore terminals in the Yangtze River Delta region, and improve the reasonable transportation system of foreign trade imported iron ore in the Yangtze River Delta.
